I am a Child of God

I knew from the moment we stepped into the church building on the 2nd week of January, that lil'K would be assigned to give her first talk in primary. I was right. When I picked lil' K up from her class that day, her teacher said "Kate She volunteered to give the talk next Sunday!" Wow! She was excited about it for most of the week. She chose the topic of "I am a Child of God." I used the internet and found something. We prepared her talk, made cute pictures to go along, and even practiced it a few times. When Sunday came around, I took lil'K to the primary room, showed her the pulpit and microphone, but to no avail. She would have nothing to do with it, knowing this would happen. When it came time for primary, lil' K would not sit with her class, she sat on my lap in the back of the room with F and lil' L. Soon it was time to give the talk. lil' K started to scream. I picked her up and tried to console and talk to her while I walked up front. She continued to cry as I began her talk for her. She calmed down and listened. I gave her talk for her. She was scared to be in front of the other children, but we handled it, and got through the first of many talks. lil' K is not ashamed of her actions or the fact that I gave her talk for her. F believes they should never start the year with the Sunbeams giving talks any ways. I am just glad that lil' K wanted to participate and volunteer. She is loving primary and is growning up too fast. Wish us better luck next time!!

well, at least she got through it and calmed down. It will be intersting to see what Jonah does too when he has to talk. He hasn't had to do anything yet but I know his turn will come.

now that I'm in the primary presidency I can relate! a little girl today and one a few weeks ago wouldn't give the prayer when the time came. I guess we forget most kids need to build up to it! Glad all is well...
